Once Upon Many Stories
Once Upon Many Stories.
Home Affairs Workshop at Goleb.
Amsterdam, NL., 2016
On July 4th, 2016, Arzu Ozkal and Nanette Yannuzzi arrived in Amsterdam as guests of Project Goleb. During their two-week residency, they witnessed many collaborative projects initiated in truly innovative ways and listened to the discussions artists/activists were having with refugees in an effort to elicit their support for actions they hoped would bring attention to their plight.

At Goleb they organized a bookmaking workshop. Inspired by Hemmingway’s six-word story, participants created a book using their own six-word-story of a memorable event in their lives using paper, glue, tapes, scissors, markers, stamps and stamp pads.
At a certain point, people began passing pages to others suggesting they add on to them and change them. That’s when the images began to get really beautiful and interesting, designs became more fluid and rich once we let go of ‘making art’ and ‘ownership'.
